DETAILED ITINERARY Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park  
 Embarking on your 3 Days Gorilla Trekking Rwanda Safari Tour begins with a departure from Kigali city, where our experienced safari driver/guide will either pick you up from the airport or your hotel. As you journey towards Volcanoes National Park, our guide will provide a comprehensive briefing about the excursion ahead. Depending on your arrival time, you have the option to enjoy lunch either in Kigali city or at the lodge in Volcanoes National Park. Additionally, there's an optional Kigali city tour available for those interested in exploring the capital further.   Accomodation: Options available from Budget, MidRange to Luxury. Meal Plan: Lunch and Dinner   Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda   Prepare for an early start on the second day of your 3 Days Gorilla Trekking Rwanda Safari Tour. After waking up and enjoying breakfast served at your lodge, it's time to gear up for the gorilla trekking adventure. Make sure to wear appropriate attire, including sturdy yet lightweight waterproof trekking shoes, long-sleeved clothing, a hat, sunglasses, and gardening gloves. Don't forget to pack insect repellent, a lunch box, and plenty of drinking water in your backpack. Once ready, meet your guide/driver for transfer to the park headquarters, where you'll receive a briefing about the gorilla trekking experience. During the briefing, participants will be divided into small groups, each led by experienced rangers and guides. It's essential to note that all trekkers must be at least 15 years old to participate in gorilla trekking in Rwanda. After the briefing and group allocation, embark on a forest walk to search for the mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. The duration of the forest walk can vary from 30 minutes to 8 hours, depending on the movement of the gorillas and the pace of the group, ensuring that everyone moves together in consideration of slower participants. Once the gorillas are located, you'll have a maximum of one hour to observe them closely and capture photographs. After this incredible encounter, exit the forest and return to your lodge. In the afternoon, you have various options to choose from for relaxation and further exploration. Day 3: Return Journey to Kigali   Heading Back to Kigali: As we conclude the Gorilla Trekking Rwanda Safari Tour, today marks the return journey to Kigali. Depending on your flight schedule, you'll enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your lodge before checking out. Then, you'll meet your Rwanda safari driver/guide for the transfer from Volcanoes National Park to Kigali city. Once in Kigali, you have the option to take a city tour, exploring attractions such as the Kigali Genocide Memorial sites, craft shops, markets, and more, before being dropped off at your designated location in Kigali, be it a hotel or the airport.

Day 1: City Tour of Kigali & Transfer to Volcanoes National Park  
Embark on the Rwanda Gorilla Trek & Lake Kivu expedition with a hearty breakfast, followed by a journey through the heart of Kigali. Begin by paying homage to the poignant memorial sites scattered throughout the city, each a solemn reminder of Rwanda's turbulent past. Explore the Genocide memorial sites, where thousands of innocent lives were tragically lost during the genocide of the mid-1990s. Then, delve into the rich history of Rwanda with a visit to the Presidential Palace Museum, offering insights into the country's political evolution. Conclude this somber yet enlightening experience with a visit to the Nyamata church, a site of historical significance. Afterward, we'll make our way to Volcanoes National Park, where the adventure truly begins.   You will have lunch and transfer to Ruhengeri town just outside the Volcanoes National Park.   Dinner and overnight will be at the lodge booked.  

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes and Visit to Iby’iwachu Cultural Centre
Today's adventure begins with an exhilarating Gorilla trekking experience in Volcanoes National Park. After a thorough briefing on the rules and guidelines, you'll set out with experienced guides to track one of the habituated Gorilla groups. The trek through the forest may vary in duration, ranging from half an hour to five hours, leading you along forested slopes, tangled vines, and bamboo thickets. Along the way, your guide will point out signs of Gorilla activity, such as dung, nests, and chewed bamboo shoots. Upon locating the Gorillas, you'll have the privilege of spending a maximum of one hour observing these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat. Afterward, return to the hotel for a well-deserved lunch. In the afternoon, immerse yourself in the vibrant Kinyarwanda culture at the Iby’wachu cultural village, where traditional folk songs, dances, storytelling, and drama await. Retire to the lodge booked for your Rwanda Gorilla Trek & Lake Kivu expedition for dinner and overnight.  

Day 3: Golden Monkey Trekking, Hike to Karisoke Research Centre, and Transfer to Lake Kivu  
After breakfast, gather at the Park headquarters for a briefing on the rules of Golden monkey tracking. Then, embark on a thrilling trek through the forest to track these playful primates. The trek typically lasts 1-2 hours before returning to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, you'll embark on a hike to the Karisoke Research Centre, renowned for its exhibition on Mountain Gorillas and the groundbreaking conservation efforts spearheaded by Dian Fossey. Here, you'll encounter a wealth of information, including Dian Fossey artifacts, a 3D interactive model of the Virunga Mountains, and casts of real gorilla nose prints. The centre offers a unique opportunity for learning about Mountain Gorillas, shedding light on facts that are often overlooked. Following the insightful tour of this remarkable facility, you'll be transferred to Kibuye town near Lake Kivu. Best Time to Visit:

Optimal times to visit Rwanda are during the dry(ish) seasons, which typically occur from December to February and June to September. However, it's important to note that rainfall can occur at any time throughout the year. Rwanda Gorilla Permits: To witness the majestic Rwanda Gorillas, permits are required and can be obtained through the Tourism and Conservation Reservation Office of the Rwanda Development Board. These permits are included in the safari package price, and we handle the booking process for you. Due to limited availability, it's advisable to secure permits well in advance, as they tend to be in high demand. What to Bring: When preparing for the trek, it's essential to dress appropriately. Be sure to wear trekking trousers (and carry waterproof trousers), layered shirts with long sleeves, a waterproof top, sturdy walking boots, gloves (preferably gardening gloves to protect against stinging nettles), plenty of water, a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, insect repellent, and a camera. Porters are available for hire to carry your backpack and provide assistance on steep terrain. Even if you don't anticipate needing one, it's worth considering hiring a porter for £6.50. Additionally, walking sticks are provided by porters, or you may choose to bring your own.  

Embark on a 5-day Safari, where you'll trek Mountain Gorillas in Volcanoes National Park, witness the volcanic landscapes, explore the lush forests to encounter chimpanzees and other primates, experience the thrilling canopy walkway, and pay respects at genocide memorial sites. Visit Your Rwanda Primates & Wildlife Safari commences with a trip to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Along the way, you'll have the opportunity to explore the Butare Museum, Murambi Memorial, and Nyanza Palace. Upon arrival, check in at the lodge near the National Park for lunch. In the afternoon, embark on a tour to a nearby tea factory, where you'll witness the intricate process of transforming locally grown tea into one of Rwanda's finest export products. Enjoy dinner and spend the night at your lodge.  

Day Two; Nyungwe Chimpanzee Trekking & Canopy Walk

Begin your day with an early breakfast before heading to the Park headquarters for a briefing on Chimpanzee tracking guidelines. Accompanied by experienced guides, venture into the forest in search of these remarkable primates. The trek lasts for approximately 2 hours, followed by a visit to the renowned Nyungwe Forest Canopy Walk. Suspended 50 meters above ground, the canopy walkway provides stunning views across the forest, offering sightings of various wildlife such as birds, butterflies, and monkey species. For those seeking an alternative to the canopy walk, a nature walk around the forest is available. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Primate Trekking in Nyungwe Forest & Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Enjoy an early breakfast before embarking on another forest expedition to track other primate species, including Golden monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, Angola colobus, and more. Explore the verdant flora of the ancient forest, discovering various bird species along the way. After lunch at the lodge, transfer to Ruhengeri town near Volcanoes National Park. Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park & Visit to Bulera and Ruhondo Lakes
This day marks the highlight of the Rwanda Primates & Wildlife Safari. After an early breakfast, join fellow tourists at the Kinigi Park headquarters for a briefing on Gorilla tracking procedures. Assigned to a Gorilla family and accompanied by guides, embark on a challenging trek through thick jungle terrain to locate the Gorillas. The trek may last between 2 to 5 hours, depending on the Gorillas' location. Upon sighting the Gorillas, spend up to one hour observing their behaviors and interactions before returning to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.
