It is simple to understand why Kenya is the most well-known safari destination in Africa. With vast savannahs covered in different wildlife, breathtaking scenery, snow-capped mountains, and parched deserts. Kenya is the #1 tourism destination on the list thanks to the incredible annual great migrations of millions of wildebeests through the Serengeti-Mara environment.

When to travel to Kenya

It can be difficult for travellers to choose when to travel to Kenya. The best time to travel, where you want to go, and of course how you want to travel all influence the ideal time to visit Kenya. Kenya is a year-round safari destination since there are favorable circumstances in various parts of the nation throughout the year.

Both the dry and wet seasons last for two years. The "long rain" season runs from the end of March to the beginning of June, although downpours hardly ever linger all day. This is the "green season," when parks are less busy and campers and lodges have the greatest rates. Although somewhat dispersed, wildlife is still abundant.

Beginning in November and ending in December is the "short rain" season. Late afternoon showers with light rain. Similar to the prolonged rainy season, lodging costs are lower, parks are less crowded, and birding is more rewarding.

Typically, the two dry seasons are from June through October and December through March. Traveling in the dry season is advantageous for seeing wildlife because most animals will gather around water sources. The Great Wildebeest Migration, during which millions of wildebeest migrate from the Serengeti into Kenya's Maasai Mara Game Reserve, is best observed from July to September.
